Sunrise- Sunset
Other than East and West, what is the difference? The rise is a new day dawning. A bright perky rooster saying good morning. The waking flowers stretching for the sun.
By night the shadows cast and love is in the air. A soft kiss and hearts float. Live by the sun
Love by the moon!

Seasons of Life
Our lives begin and we cycle through the seasons, creating friends, family, adventure and memories. Just as each day begins with a sunrise and ends with a sunset, so to ours lives begin and end. Each new day allows us the opportunity to begin anew and add to our story, as generations before us created their stories. The Family Tree allows us to look back to grandparents and cousins and forward to the next generations that will sprout and be new leaves on our tree.
My chair is designed to write names in the leaves of the tree, so that your family tree can be recorded on the chair. Look back and enjoy the memories and look forward to next adventure

The Clock Rules the Day Best in Show
From sunrise to sunset, and sometimes after, I am on the go. The clock is always ticking and my day is ruled by time and is usually quite full. This piece explores my daily journey: it starts early when the Amish wake me with their buggy and ends in the comfort of my home with those I love.

A Red Tailed Hawk
The chair has abstract figures of a red tailed hawk and the feature elements which are dominated at the upper part and the arms of the chair. The red tailed hawk looks as if it is rising above nature.

A Day At The Lake Mayor's Theme Award & People's Choice Award
We wanted to create a chair that would tell a story of a day full of happiness, in a haven surrounded by nature. A place where you can lose yourself in the beauty and peace of the outdoors. We had an idea of building on the theme of sunrise/sunset by showing the passage of time from day to night. Starting with the daytime lake on the left arm, into the sunset on the back of the chair, and finally the nighttime campfire on the right arm. And then just for fun we added a few woodland creatures on the legs of the chair.

Songbird Twilight Award of Excellence
This time of year the birds rule my yard, so it's the first thing I thought of for a chair. Kids like to play so the birds, a Robin and a Blue bird on the chair arms spin . The Scarlet Tanager on the top has wings that go around. Have fun kids!! Don't forget to look around to the back.

Howling at the Moon
Sunsets and the moon make me think about the nighttime animals that roam the land. The coyote is a strong example of the night and, the sound of his howl, lets you know that he is near.

A colorful chair of hope and light
grown from seeds of love and sunshine
Back in cold and dreary January, I was intrigued by the call for artists for the Jericho Art Trail Chair event. It seemed like a different and interesting way to challenge my creative soul. I was excited to learn I was accepted and immediately conjured up a river related concept for the chair. I cut glass, mirror and glued swirling ribbons of blue, aqua, green and silver to replicate water and the river. And then COVID19 arrived and it changed the world. The chair no longer had my focus as there was so much despair and uncertainty. I lost my creative spirit and energy and so the chair sat in the corner barren, lonely, all the glass removed, and then amid the isolation of quarantine a new idea came to mind. Where do we find hope? Where do we find light and love? The answer is we had to create it for others and ourselves. And I thought about how I could translate that into a design and my chair started writing its own story. It started with planting a seed of hope and a little sprinkling of care. With light and love, it grew into a calm green morning sunflower coupled with the afternoon bloom of a setting sun.
The chair back panels are a mixed media mosaic with custom made polymer clay tiles, hand cut stained glass, mirror, glass gems and beads.

Some Moments are Gold
Artist Statement
I am a motivated, young artist looking to break my way into the professional art world. I have two niches which I lean towards when I create art. Half of my time I spend creating abstract paintings with palette knives to create all kinds of texture and dimension. The other half I spend drawing simplistic images and pairing them with a hand lettered quote. My painting style is drastically different than my drawing style. However they share one thing in common. Both are far from realism.
Proposed Design
I want to portray a very simplistic, modern, yet fun design on the chair. I want to use a lot of blocks of colors that represent elements of the earth. Water, mountains, grass, and of course the sun. I love quotes and hand lettering so I thought adding in a quote to the design would add a fun vibe. I chose the quote “Some moments are gold.” Whether it is a sunset or a sunrise, those moments are rare. They’re precious like gold. You can be alone or in the company of a loved one but when you see a sunset/sunrise you're reminded of how beautiful and organic life can be. It’s so important to live in these moments and take in all the value they hold. Much like gold they're rare and need to be treasured.

To Boldly Go Best Creative Concept
Sunsets and sunrises mean so many things to different people, so I asked my friends and family to share with me their perfect sunrises and sunsets. I have incorporated them all into my piece by showing each one in droplets of water. Everything from a cup of coffee with the morning sunrise, to a glass of wine with the evening sunset.

PAIX
Michael and I decided to incorporate our lives into the art we expressed on the chair. We named this piece “Paix” to represent my mom, Cynthia’s, Salon and Day Spa here in Afton that’s right next to my Coffee shop, Baristacrats Coffee Bar. The vibes from each business can be felt in this piece of artwork. The fancy Paris vibe can be felt walking into the salon, and the nostalgic vibe you get while reading a book and sipping on a cup of coffee you can feel in the coffee shop! Thank you for checking out my chair.
