2022 judges: Leah Frankel & Nick George
Leah Frankel is a visual artist interested in how we interact with our remarkable environment. Working in a variety of media ranging from small weavings to full scale installations, Frankel creates compositions and interactive spaces that explore tension, gravity, and perspective. Frankel received her MFA from Ohio State University in 2014 and is currently Professor of Practice in Sculpture at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY.
Nick George is a visual artist whose practice centers on photography, often as both medium and subject. Some of his works include larger-than-life double exposures created with found film from thrift store cameras and "Frozen Layer Cakes" which are photograms made from the process of leaving frozen photo chemicals to thaw on photo paper. In 2014, he received a Master of Fine Arts at The Ohio State University. His work has been reviewed in The New Yorker and is part of the permanent collection at The Columbus Museum of Art.
