The Jericho Arts Council (JAC) of Bainbridge is sponsoring 20 juried Artists for a five week public sidewalk exhibition of art, where the selected artists express creativity upon our unique Adirondack paddle chairs, following our Theme “Books by the Riverside". They were invited to express their ideas about a favorite book, a book to read by the riverside or a memorable riverside scene from a story.
JAC provided artists with a handmade, unprimed chair, primer & topcoat, and a stipend of $130 for the adult chairs, $100 for a child’s chair. Cash awards of $50 to $100 will be granted in five categories. Golden Artist Colors donated a selection of their fine acrylics to each of the 20 artists!
There is the opportunity for bidding in advance of the Live Auction slated to take place on Saturday, May 27 at 4pm at the 60th Annual General Clinton Canoe Regatta. Go to www.32auctions.com/rr2023chairs starting at noon on April 27 for the online auction.
Art will be displayed on Bainbridge sidewalks from April 29 until Friday before Memorial Day weekend. Bainbridge, like dozens of other Towns and villages in this area, is attempting a grass roots revitalization of the community and this is one of the efforts to support the JAC. Proceeds from the May 27 Art Auction will go to the Jericho Arts Council to support our Artists and to create future events.
Questions can be directed to the JAC Gallery Committee “Regatta Row 2023” at jacarttrail@gmail.com or by calling Rachel Hares at 607-643-2211.
