New Music with deep roots. Continuing the American tradition. Band member Michael McGuane, Joel Huizinga, Mark Stacy, Rick Czebiniak, and new addition James Packrat Bates, bring their insatiable love for rhythm to their unique brand of American roots-rock style music. They are a favorite among local listeners.

​Juice Blenders Steel Drum Band

The Binghamton High School Steel Drum Band is under the direction of BHS Director of
Bands, Joel Smales. (rhymes with Scales) The Steel Band is a strong force in the musical
life of the Rod Serling School at Binghamton High School and throughout the Southern
Tier and beyond.
The Steel Drum Band was founded in1999 and has performed throughout the country for
Music Festivals and Conventions in Nashville, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Virginia, Ohio
and throughout much of NYS and NYC for performances of their own and as guests with
colleges and universities.
They have been featured on television, with the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra and
have 5 CD’s recorded to date, all available for purchase at Binghamton HS, or by
contacting us through our Facebook page.

The Ensemble has performed with Harry Belafonte, the Binghamton Community
Orchestra, steel drum greats Andy Narell, Liam Teague, and Tracey Thornton and with
drumset artists Zoro, Billy Ward, Dave Mancini and Tony Verderosa, as well as with
Gordon Stout, Kris Jensen, and the music departments of Ithaca College, Cornell
University, Onondaga Community College, Broome Community College and Hartwick
College.

This talented group plays a unique mix of music that is best described as Americana. The performs songs from the greatest American musical traditions, including Bluegrass, Blues, Rock and Folk. They bring energy, enthusiasm and a playful sense of fun that is undeniable infectious.
